3-D Secure is a security standard for online payments using American Express, Mastercard and Visa cards. More and more online shops are relying on 3-D Secure to identify card payers beyond doubt and therefore protect the seller and buyer from fraudulent use of the card.

American Express, Mastercard and Visa developed 3-D Secure together as a security standard for online payments. With this process you identify yourself with a code that you receive in an SMS or in the new Swisscard app. Look out for the American Express SafeKey®, Mastercard Identity Check™ or Visa Secure logo when you’re shopping or paying online.
